Now we may be partial but one of our favorite mome

Now we may be partial but one of our favorite moments on the wedding day and probably our most favorite type of “exit” it the one right after the wedding ceremony when the couple walks out before heading to the reception. The couple is all smiles as their friends and family cheer and throw petals into the air. It is one of those special parts of the day that is overflowing with love and joy. We love this exit even more that the end of the evening because everyone looks more glamorous and there is so much more immense joy.

Our tip to make this amazing is to have petals, streamers, or something that the guests can shower you with as you walk back down the aisle! It is often overlooked but makes a big difference to the tone and feel of the wedding.

Many times we find that couples under estimate the amount of time that they need for coverage prior to the ceremony, after all you’re just getting into the dress right? Well there is that, but also there is a lot more that goes on before you start to set foot down the aisle.

We recommend allotting at least one hour to bridal prep, this allows us to grab candid robe/pajama shots with the girls before they get dressed, plenty of time with family as they get you into your dress, moments for dad to see you once you are finished getting ready, elegant bridal party photos, and finally some timeless portraits of you in your amazing gown.
.
So, when planning out your day make sure to allow time to capture all of the amazing moments and beauty that happen during that part of the day!

All of this cooler weather is reminding me of L+B’s portrait session last year. You wouldn’t be able to tell but, these were taken with HUNDREDS of people all around us. Everyone trying to get the perfect cherry blossom photo. There were families, weddings, engagements, and nature photographers all descending on the D.C. tidal basin. With a little luck though (and a lot of patience) we were able to walk away with these beautiful shots.
